Ronald Becker Graham, who served at Broadview Academy in LaFox, Illinois, for forty years, passed away on January 24, 2025. His name became inseparable from Broadview, where he was not only the grounds and maintenance manager but also a pillar of encouragement and mentorship for generations of students.
Graham was known for his signature saying: “If you love what you do, then you never work a day in your life.” He embodied that philosophy daily, leaving an indelible mark on Broadview’s campus and in the lives of its students. Michael Campos, Executive Secretary of the Illinois Conference and a former Broadview student, remembers him fondly:
"Mr. Graham didn’t just fix things—he built people up. He invested in others in a way that left a lasting impact. He will be dearly missed."
Even after retirement, Graham’s generosity continued. After relocating to Michigan, he and his wife extended their kindness beyond Broadview’s halls. Campos recalls a time when, as a struggling student, he reached out for help:
"Without hesitation, they opened their home to me—no rent, no conditions, just abundant generosity. Because of their kindness for over three years, I was able to focus on my studies without the weight of financial stress."
Ronald Graham’s legacy is one of selfless service, quiet strength, and unwavering kindness. His impact reaches far beyond the buildings he maintained—living on in the hearts of those he mentored, encouraged, and welcomed as family.
The Illinois Conference extends its deepest condolences to the Graham family and all who were blessed to know him.
A memorial service was held on February 2, 2025, at Pioneer Memorial Church. You can plant a tree in honor of Ronald Becker Graham.
