The Jesus we claim to follow simplifies His presence and message down to two lines: “Love the Lord your God and your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22.37-40) Simply: Love God, Love Man. As you can see by our welcoming montage, the Illinois Conference is really about people. People have always mattered to Jesus. And within the context of “healthy disciple-making congregations,” we want every person to not just hear the words of Jesus but to experience their power: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10.10) And it is to that pursuit we are committed, especially in places where hope and wholeness may be so desperately needed.
